Ketogene – a diet rich with fats
Concept of this diet following: it is a lot of fats and protein at almost total absence of carbohydrates. Such approach to food exists 90 years, and at a low-carbohydrate diet a large number of admirers.The name of a diet comes from the term "ketoz" which means process of combustion of fat for obtaining energy. Process becomes more active when the organism lacks enough glucose. That is why the diet based on fats and proteins and at restriction of carbohydrates, as a result results in good effect of weight loss.
Unlike the majority of low-carbohydrate diets, the ketogene diet demands obligatory availability of fats in a diet. In a ketogene diet about 65% of total number of daily calories have to arrive from fats, 30% - from protein and only about 5% - from carbohydrates (is as well more strict proportion: 75-20-5). Other difference of low-carbohydrate and proteinaceous diets that to them at late stages carbohydrates are added to a diet (for example as in Atkins's diet), and process of a ketoz (combustion of fat) decreases. It is not provided in ketogene diets of it: all diet is proteinaceous with the content of fat and reduction of carbohydrates.
Advantages of a ketogene diet
- You will not hunger as products with the high content of fat give feeling of fullness (even in small quantities), and besides they improve power levels.
- There is a number of the researches confirming efficiency of a diet not only for weight reduction, but also for improvement of a condition of patients with diabetes. The diet also reduces risks of an epileptic attack.
- The diet improves cholesterol levels, reduces blood pressure, reduces the level of triglycerides.
The forbidden products
Under a ban: bread, rice, pasta, wheat groats and flour, sauces with starch or flour and also everything that contains sugar. It is necessary to avoid the processed meat (canned food, semi-finished products) and also peanut.
Sweet vegetables, such as pepper, onions and tomatoes and also starchy vegetables (potatoes) are not recommended. Fruit are not necessary.
The resolved products
The diet is saturated with fats. However it is necessary to watch type of the consumed fats. The following products belong to the recommended fats (preferably organic and fresh): meat of beef, mutton, veal, goat, pork, bird, fish, eggs, cheese. It is possible to include coconut and vegetable oils in dishes. Nuts are resolved: macadamia, black fox, almonds, walnuts.
In moderate quantities green sheet vegetables, such as cabbage, salad, Brussels sprout are resolved. In small amounts it is possible wild berries, fresh herbs and spices are allowed.
Chocolate, but in small doses, and only grades with the content of cocoa of 85-90% is resolved.

Councils
- Avoid products with marking "fat-free" or "with the low content of fat". If you do not eat carbohydrates, then the organism has to receive enough fat to remain vigorous.
- Drink a lot of water. It is more, than in other diets. The matter is that the ketogene diet belongs to diuretic, and you will need a lot of liquid to make up for its losses.
- Coffee and tea – without sugar and milk.

Having a snack (options at choice):
- Small handful of nuts,
- Cheese cube,
- Celery sticks with cheese,
- Jerked beef,
- Meat allsorts,
- Fried cheese,
- A smoked salmon with cream cheese,
- Hard boiled eggs.
Do not use the packed bars, chips or crackers as having a snack! In them some carbohydrates, and you need to look for proteinaceous options.
