Work number 1. Correspondent

So it turned out that having graduated from serious technical college, I at once did not get for work in the specialty. Will of a case I got a job the correspondent in the newspaper.
This newspaper was organized only recently, and it was called Stradalovka (The illocal person could ponadumat that got concerning such strange name, but actually the small river flowing in this settlement so was called).
It was the unpretentious newspaper on 8 pages narrating about local city news, news of neighboring villages and settlements, meetings of administration, cultural actions and any different problems and pleasures of the small town.

There was it in times when the Internet still was luxury and it almost nobody had houses. All data for articles were got by personal interviews with heroes, presence at meetings or dismantling and personal survey of the area. Also in the course during the work there were paper books and dictionaries, the dictionary of synonyms was especially useful.

The collective of our newspaper consisted of the editor-in-chief - the beautiful creative person owning also penetrative abilities and ability to conduct negotiations, the responsible secretary, the proofreader, the maker-up, the proofreader, the driver and correspondents.

There were 5 correspondents - the editor-in-chief, three young girls (I one of them) and very elderly, but very vigorous grandmother who was never lazy and was always ready to go to any remote place behind the latest news. She only of us wrote articles on paper, and the secretary typed them then into the computer. But at once to it bothered to wait until the secretary deigns to type her text, and she asked all of us to teach her to work in a Word and most to type texts. Also you represent, learned, at the age of nearly 70 years.

So, about work of the correspondent: the editor-in-chief gives tasks, to visit, to write about that, it is possible to place emphasis on. You agree about a meeting, you go, you talk, you photograph, you look round on the parties whenever possible to pick up still some additional news. You come back to edition and you begin to try correctly and to interestingly state material. Then you give on reading to the editor-in-chief, she makes remarks what to add, remove, replace... You remake. You give again to the editor-in-chief if she claims, then you give to the proofreader which reads regarding correctness of the text (not only spelling and a punctuation, but also stylistics). Further you make changes, and your material goes to imposition.
Sometimes you take work home, and since morning you bring ready option.

Work in the newspaper was interesting. At us it was always cheerful. In day of sending for the press the truth was always a crunch since were always not in time, something was completed at the last minute. And the next day, day of a release of number, was day of tranquility, thematic conversations and creation of plans for the following number.

Editions are constantly rung by phone, many people (in the majority are those who want to complain of something) come. Also people wrote paper letters. I took to myself function of a razgrebatel of mail since I very much liked to open envelopes and to read letters, and there who about what.

We had a price-work salary - the fee for each article by quantity of symbols + in addition bonuses for the most interesting news and subjects.

Well I will also be brief, I will try still in brief about pluses and minuses of this work (of course all this is subjective, in my opinion):

Pluses:
- work is interesting and various;
- you communicate and meet many people, including heads of the enterprises, administration, municipal services, (it is so possible to strike up also acquaintances, useful to himself)
- you go to different places, you learn a lot of new;
- it is possible to trade on official position (something to you was not correctly counted in housing and public utilities, and you "I generally in the newspaper work with it so can easily learn all city about your frauds").

Minuses:
- irregular working hours;
- it is necessary to visit not only interesting, but also unwanted places (meetings of some commissions, the flooded cellars, dumps, halls with bums);
- houses too constantly you think of work, happened you sit at supper, and bang - comes to mind how it is beautiful to wrap the termination of article, you throw everything and you run to print until the thought left;
- sometimes it seems gathered material, information, well you cannot beautifully state all this the text in any way, you suffer-suffer, but nothing is impossible. Also there is something squeezeed out inconsistent which is not pleasant to you, but all the same it is necessary to hand over article.

Here somehow so in brief. But actually work cool, especially for young and creative natures.
