Within several years we with the husband traveled around New Zealand, lived according to the Housesitting system in houses of wealthy New Zealanders. For both of us it was test because the New Zealand husband all life of veins only in the houses, but circumstances developed as developed.


Both of us are very sensitive to others smells, and in general we live feelings therefore the competition interested me. I fly to Russia very soon, and I should live there long enough. I admit honestly - I want to win a prize and itself to use it. For now - there are a little memoirs.

What is Housesitting

It is replacement of owners for the period of departure with acceptance for itself full responsibility for purity, an order, pets, house plants, the yard and a garden, and sometimes for a cattle/birdies/small fishes / guinea pigs, etc. Usually farmer work does not belong to duties of a haussitter, but twice we had also such experience. Barter turns out - we receive wonderful housing in temporary use, and instead of payment we look after pets and we guarantee purity and protection of the house.



Thus we with the husband lived several years, having traveled over all New Zealand. Living in each house of 1 week before half a year, and because of a lokdaun in the last house it is more than 2.5 years, we had an excellent opportunity not only to study others houses and gardens, but also to explore vicinities in a radius of hundreds kilometers.


It was unique experience, and we received very good reviews and recommendations everywhere. And in some (best) houses, we replaced owners twice and even three times.


To the majority of houses we were invited repeatedly, but we politely refused because of the uninteresting place or smelly animals. And here time to pass to the most interesting came.

Houses and pets

This doggie by the name of Izzy and two of her dog cohabitants won in the rating of a vonyuchesta at us first place. Izzy had a huge tumor, and to dog measures senile age. Her hostess warned us at once that Izzy at any time can die and that we from it did not worry - to us claims will not be. But my Izzy recovered.



Ran as a puppy on the beach and behaved as a healthy dog. Though houses instantly weakened and lost appetite. I had to feed her from a spoon.



One more dog old woman on a background was from them three insufferably smelliest. No dog shampoos helped. I scrubbed the house every day. It is more, than for a week that we with the husband lived with these doggies, we lost appetite. It seemed that wooden walls and furniture, clothes and kitchen became impregnated with smells of a dog old age and diseases. Every month after a dinner tore me. Ten days seemed eternity. Neither cleaners, nor airing helped. I tried to muffle a smell fragrances, but smells mixed up and the intolerable stench turned out. In a month after we left this house, the hostess Joy wrote me the letter with gratitude that I the care prolonged life to Izzy's poor thing who died in 3 weeks after our parting.

In the photo below - doggies from the city Cambridge, in the wonderful house. With them and with a huge cat who usually walked in itself outside the house we lived the whole month. At the left in the bed - the old woman Mollie who stank as all three doggies from the photo from above. After washing she stank even stronger because dried very long, and on an old age preferred to spend house time. On the right - the deaf noble, and too old, the neatnik Sofia who in comparison with Mollie as though did not smell at all.

It is one photo below - toy remains, my favourites, young and clean. With them problems were not except that they constantly strove to run away for a fencing, and it was dangerous to them. Caught a smallness and returned to the house.


The vacuum cleaner in the house with pets - the main subject. No, it is better so: The MAIN SUBJECT in a haussitting with pets is the VACUUM CLEANER.

In photos below - my most terrible horror. While we lived in a smart country house. It was the house of the wealthy family consisting of wealthy parents, two children, four thoroughbred, but absolutely ill-bred dogs, a blue-eyed cat, aquarian small fishes, cows and rare breed of bulls.




Veymaraner is a hunting dog. And when together there live two veymaraner, there can be a competition and a trash. In this house these huge dogs - incredibly physically strong, obviously defeated owners people race for power. And even won to themselves a leather sofa. One small doggie was a little fool. Literally this word. An exceptional case, but all four slept in the closed cages in a garage. And early in the morning the horror film repeated every day. Somehow I will tell.

Of course, the haussitting with animals is a test for sensitive people. Especially, if there is a tendency to an allergy. But personally for me it was time of inspiration and high physical activity and self-discipline. All pets get up early: they need to be fed, walked, provided purity and if necessary treatment and so on.



But most of them quickly became my friends and created the necessary mood in operating time with books.


During a haussitting I published 14 books on Ridero, and published the book "If Mother Toks …" in solid Publishing house And I prepare one more book for the edition.

And coming a cleaning manager (to be exact - the cleaner) called this cat "a demonic/devil and damned cat". Fortunately, in this house our obzyannost did not include cleaning and house cleaning. It was done by the professional.

Most of all we with the husband loved haussitting without animals or here with such neatniks who came into the house only to check - whether owners returned.








The Haussitting in New Zealand exists long ago, and for this purpose there are special websites and the developed regulations. Owners risk nothing because the country small, the police work effectively. And if that you will bungle - wear out on vessels or you will end up in jail. In a haussitting people work only decent, exclusively clean and generally non-smoking (as we with the husband).

It is one of toilets in our last haussitting. All walls are covered with embroideries in frames. It was necessary bortsya with dust and a web.

Visiting to each new house I photographed all inhabited and all non-residential premises that before arrival of owners to return everything in the same state and a look in which we accepted.

But upon we always leased the house in cleaner state, than accepted.

Usually owners suggested us to use products which they left. In long haussittinga I had to get rid of expired products because from them in cases always an unpleasant smell.

Usually I did not use more than a half of kitchen utensils or used our own.


Each case and each box with kitchen ware needs to be aired and wiped periodically.

In such look accepted - in it handed over.


Sometimes owners closed expensive and valuable ware for the period of a haussitting in cases which we did not touch.

But they are more often just left everything as it is, completely trusting us.

This house - one of my darlings. We lived in it three times for three months /

We signed the contract with some owners, and at some the built-in X-ray - worked at trust according to the oral arrangement: met, communicated, they furnish to us the clue from the house, the best bedroom, and depart on the continent or on other island to have a rest.

After the third time elderly couple having been tired of annual travel, moved to Australia closer to the children.

And we had the kindest memories of this clean and cozy house.

In this house there was beautiful ware and many beautiful things.

And all this needed to be accepted in purity.

And to return in purity.


I had to free all shelves, to wipe them dust with the means destroying smells.

When you live in the house long - at any time can any kitchen utensils are required

Owners of all houses left us "the house Bible" - the printed-out or handwritten Guide to use of the house and care of animals plus all necessary contacts on a case of emergence of any problem).

Yes, still we used more than once and we continue to use the device for moisture absorption. In New Zealand in the majority of houses on a floor the soft covering (except kitchen), and on it can get water. So in one of houses I unintentionally spilled a large amount of water on an oriental carpet, time was winter and damp. It was necessary to save an oriental carpet. And make-shifts it is impossible to dry up such covering. And we bought the device for moisture absorption. Day of use, and a magic image all moisture from the enclosed space moves to a device container. It was the great find for us not only for future house, but also for the car when there moisture collects. We used it already many times and we consider the best prevention from dampness. And dampness - the main reason of opposite smells in any room. And repair needs to be done on dry. So very much I recommend. There are different modifications of devices. Ours is packed on the second floor now somewhere therefore I post its photo from the Internet.

Some hostesses included the instruction for cleaning of their unique wooden furniture, and the recommendation about use of household chemicals in "The house Bible". Thanks to a haussitting I got acquainted with all brands of household chemicals from economical to an extra class, with all possible brands and types of plates, ovens, dishwashing and washing machines, and other household appliances and means for care of the house.

And of course it is regular to do inventory, getting rid of the delayed and deteriorated things




It is old kitchen in the huge house on the hill overlooking the ocean.

Except damp cleaning with means of household chemicals, I consider necessary regular airing of rooms and cases. It is not necessary to allow old smells to collect in corners and on shelves. It is necessary to disperse them metelochka, mops and rags and to release on the street.


It is so surprising: three hostesses from different houses warned me about the possible death of the aged and sick dogs, and even suggested to lull them in veterinary clinic, but all these three dogs near me as if came to life. In these three houses the problem of a smell was especially relevant. However, Cooper did not stink at all!



The Haussitting was more than half a year here, and the husband in coordination with owners, replaced this old, co with a set of smells, kitchen - with modern. Sometimes it is possible to get rid of unpleasant smells only completely having got rid of old things.

In New Zealand owners of pets prefer to erase and dry dog and cat's laying in city laundries. It really allows to save the house from smells of washing of these laying.
