Lord of my soul: "Lord of the Rings"

As soon as the name of a competition was read, I understood at once that I want to write about the screen version of the novel of John Tolkien "Lord of the Rings"


By the way, after viewing of the first part of the movie "Fellowship of the Ring", I also had a desire to read this work. To a release of the movie, to the shame, I did not hear anything about the author.


And after "Lord of the Rings" I fell in love with "the world of a fantasy", as with the wonderful world of fairy tales for all generations.

"Lord of the Rings" — one of the most famous and popular books of the 20th century. The book is translated at least into 38 languages. It had a huge impact on literature in a fantasy genre, on board and computer games, on cinema and in general on world culture.

The plot of the book in itself seems plain: a travel of the youth with friends/friends with the purpose to save the world and for destruction of a certain bagatelle. In fairy tales of many people of similar plots with travel not to consider. And any of them can be retold in several offers.

Any, but only not "Lord of the Rings"! John Tolkien created not just the book, and the whole world in which people and the invented people and beings adjoin.

In the book there is even a map of Middle-earth that the reader could not only present, but also personally see this world. When reading it seems that you read not the fairy tale, but the textbook of history: it is so realistic places and characters are described. Yes, not ours, and perhaps some parallel world. Or the world existing before appearance of dinosaurs, for example.


I will quite present, how strongly readers expected the screen version of "Lord of the Rings". Perhaps with huge vigilance, but with not a smaller anticipation. Earlier to shoot the film of such scale that it at least approximately gave the atmosphere of the book, it was unreal.

Emergence of modern technologies including computer, allowed to embody expectations and expectations of millions of admirers of the book.


The movie takes attention from first minutes. And what begins as the wonderful lovely fairy tale develops into full-scale action with an intense and saturated plot.

First of all It should be noted talented acting. While they acted in fact in the fairy tale, there was also no trace of affectedness and work "carelessly". Also I think that it not only because of strict control from the director, but also because of enthusiasm for the characters.

Types of the nature, landscape, architecture strike. Frankly speaking, when reading the book of my imagination would not be enough for similar precisely. And as I at first watched the movie, shots from it with ease flashed before eyes.

Scenes of fights and cruelty in the movie, as well as in the book, are enough. After all first of all the book about opposition of the good and evil. And not only at the moral, but also physical level.

However battles do not cause a special negative, and without effort fit into a plot. And if other movies, like historical, with fights and fights I especially do not favor, trying to pass similar shots, then when viewing "Lord of the Rings" I do not pass minutes.


The trilogy was removed 8 years. The incredible number of accessories was shaped: chain armors, helmets, onions, swords, hobichy legs, ears of elves, beards of gnomes...

The trilogy made great financial success and is one of the most profitable series of movies. Movies were positively accepted by critics and won 17 Oscars from 30 nominations. The final movie of the trilogy, "Return of the king", won all 11 "Oscars" for which it was nominated that is record quantity of awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for one movie (as much of figurines could receive only two movies for all history: "Bin-Gur" William of Uayler and James Cameron's "Titanic"). The trilogy is also known for use of innovative visual effects, in particular, Gollum became the first character who is completely created by means of technology of occupation of the movement.

Speaking about Tolkien, it is necessary to mention "tolkiyenist", so-called "roleplayers". From his easy hand absolutely strangers unite in groups under different flags, cling elfin ears, beards let grow and live one more, let short-term, but life.


All of us already enough adults, but at heart infinitely trust in the fairy tale, in people, in a good victory over the evil. And "the world of a fantasy" can transfer to it without effort. It is only enough to open the book or to include the movie.
