Where there is Vasyuki

I already began to tell about the recent holiday. I want to continue.

So, Vasyuki. Certainly, this fictional name. But it is for certain known that Ilya Ilf, being a correspondent of the Moscow newspaper "Gudok", in the summer of 1925 traveled by steamship around Volga. Wrote some notes for the edition, and in passing, of course, noticed life and customs of natives of the Volga region. A lot of things from this were described then in the novel: places, characters, situations.

And so. Clever people counted on the way of the steamship described in the novel and on the mentioned enterprises that Vasyuki where Bender built the plan of conquest of the world and was carried out by a simultaneous chess game, is the city of Kozmodemyansk. It is located in Mari El, in that part of the republic where mountain Maris live (is mountain and meadow).

Now there is a museum of satire and humour of Ostap Bender. And every year there passes Benderiana - a humour festival. Well and to us, visiting tourists, some entertainment.

And in general, the city has a provincial charm of the Russian remote place. Yes, to live there, probably, not easy as with jobs not densely and the wage level low. But people think out that, attract tourists, are able to present themselves.
