Hop

Hop ordinary is Humulis lupulus L. - a long-term grassy liana with the curling six-sided hollow stalks 5-8 meters long from family of a hemp family. On a liana there are kryuchkovidny thorns which it clings to a support and rises up.

Leaves at hop large, heart-shaped, integral or three - five-bladed on long scapes. Flowers modest, yellowish-green, are located above or in bosoms of leaves, are collected in shishkovidny light green earrings on female plants. When hop fades, earrings expand, forming a soplodiya - "cone" which are located brushes or odinochno. The plant in June - August blossoms, fruits ripen in July - September. Hop as seeds, and vegetativno breeds.

For the medicinal purposes manually collect the dry ripened "cones" when they gain chartreuse color, approximately in the middle of August.

- Cones of hop contain: RR vitamins, groups B, C, phytoncides, bitter substance lupulin, alkaloid humulin, essential oil, flavonoids, hmeledubilny and valerian acids, dyes.

- In leaves of hop are found: B1, B2, C vitamins, carotene, carbohydrates, fenolkarbonovy acids and flavonoids.

- Hop possesses anticonvulsant, soothing, anti-inflammatory, antivermicular, light laxative and somnolent action.

- From hop cook the calming, anti-inflammatory, diuretic teas, broths for improvement of digestion, treatment of gastritises, a gastroenteritis, nervoz, insomnias, inflammatory processes of a bladder, kidneys, a liver and gall bladder.

- Broths appoint at thrombophlebitis, tuberculosis of lungs and skin, malaria, syphilis and as anthelminthic means, at the increased arterial blood pressure and atherosclerosis, oncology, at indispositions in the climacteric period and at mochekisly diathesis.

Hop is widely used in national cosmetics.
