4 main rules of long and happy life of Lucille Randon who lived 118 years
The French nun Lucille Randon also famous as the sister Andrée, was considered as the oldest woman on the planet. After the death of the 119-year-old Japanese of Kane Tanaka last year she became the adult in the world.
The sister Andrée was born in the south of France on February 11, 1904, even long before World War I, and died on January 17, 2023 in Toulon in nursing home Sainte-Catherine-Laboure at the age of 118 years. Randon was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the most long-living woman and the oldest person at the time of the death, without having lived only several weeks up to the 119 anniversary. What allowed it to live so long?
It is curious that the nun denied the requests to transfer the locks of hair or DNA samples for scientific research, having said that "only the Lord knows" a secret of her longevity. Nevertheless, something is known of its habits and a way of life.
According to Randon, most of all she was supported by her work and care of others. "People say that work kills, but in my case work supported me, I continued to work while I was not 108 years old" — she told journalists in April of last year. Though the sister lost sight and moved in the wheelchair, she looked after other elderly people who were much younger than it. "People have to help each other and love each other, but not hate. If we shared all this, everything would be much better" — she told then.
In the interview devoted to its 116 anniversary, Lucille told that return of two of her three brothers from World War I was one of her brightest memoirs. "It was a rarity, in families usually was two dead, but not two live. Both of them came back" — she noticed. The girl worked as the governess in Paris and called this period the happiest in the life. Having been born in Protestant family, Randon addressed in Catholicism at the age of 26 years, and in 41 years, after World War II, joined an award of nuns of "The daughter of mercy". Then the sister Andrée was sent to hospital in Vichy where she worked 31 years.
After long years of persistent work Lucille went to Toulon where she attained the age. In 2021 she endured a disease, having caught Covid-19 together with 81 inhabitants of its nursing home.
Receiving pleasure from food
According to Forbes, the nun told journalists about the "criminal mystery" of regular pleasure chocolate and wine. Also other Frenchwoman — Zhanna Kalman who lived up to 122 years had similar passion. Though similar pleasures can seem harmful, cases Randon and Kalman can tell a lot of things about the power of pleasure food. It can lighten the mood and reduce stress, and these are important components of longevity. One research showed that people with the best mood 35% more rare die within five years.
Choice of the food rich with antioxidants
Red wine contains antioxidant resveratrol which can maintain health of heart, preventing injury of blood vessels, reducing the level of the LPNP harmful cholesterol and preventing formation of blood clots. So the choice of the sister Andrée more than is justified — antioxidants reduce inflammation on all body and help to reduce risk of development of age diseases. Chocolate, especially dark, contains a set of antioxidants which can also reduce risk of heart diseases. Fruit, including a citrus, berries and vegetables, such as sheet greens and artichokes will do also good. To them it is possible to add vegetable proteins, such as nuts and beans which will give powerful antioxidant effect too.
Meal in the company
The science often speaks about advantage of meal in the bosom of the family and friends. Researches of the University of Oxford show that the more often people eat together with others, the more happily and udovletvorenny they feel. The research of 2013 published in Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior reports that meal together with others throughout all life contacts healthier food. The French especially are famous for a slow joint meal and fostering of the Mediterranean diet among which many advantages it is noted that it improves an intestines microbiome at elderly people, reducing weakness and improving the general state of health.
Moderate consumption of alcohol
Despite recognition of the sister Andrée in alcohol intake, she said that she drank only one glass of wine a day that corresponds to recommendations CDC about "moderate" alcohol intake for women. The science ambiguously estimates influence of alcohol on life expectancy, but some researches show that moderate alcohol intake can promote increase in life expectancy. The Dutch research in which more than five thousand people participated showed that moderate consumption of wine positively affects life expectancy, especially at women. And here excessive alcohol intake reduces life expectancy. The optimum dosage for achievement of age of 90 years is also more senior, by calculations, makes 5-15 grams of alcohol a day (at the same time the standard glass of wine or beer contains about 14 grams of pure alcohol).
