Kostroma, mon amoure

Besides beach tourism in the warm countries where it is possible to relax and have a rest from the exhausting work and our cold weather, there is popular also a tourism across Russia, in interesting historical places recently. If you want to spend the vacation in such option, then very much I recommend to visit the city of Kostroma which enters the Golden Ring of Russia.

It is located on the great Volga River. Kostroma is the city ancient, and its center remained in that look what it was many centuries ago. Here it is possible to see the well-known malls where merchants with all the district gathered in age-old times to sell the goods.

Nearby there is the well-known fire kalancha, the area under the name "frying pan" where in old times there passed people's assemblies.

And of course to admire beautiful landscapes, passing on Volga Embankment. From more modern sights it is possible to see a monument to Susanin and Ostrovsky's arbor here.

The ancient and majestic sight of Kostroma is Ipatiev Monastery. It is located in the beautiful place – on the shooter where two rivers merge. The view of this place strikes with the grandeur and beauty.

The history of the monastery is very rich and interesting. It is called "a cradle of House of Romanovs". It is connected with the fact that in this monastery at the beginning of the 17th century Mikhail Romanov, the ancestor of a 300-year dynasty of Romanov in power was elected to a throne. Here it disappeared from the Polish interventionists in time, restless for the country. During the existence the monastery suffered destructions more than once and was restored. Now it works as monastery. It is open for tourists, here conduct interesting slow tours.

In the territory of the monastery more than 10 historical constructions, in chambers work the museum exposition devoted to life of family of Romanov and an exposition of the Church historical and archaeological museum in which unique ancient church relics are exposed. And in a monastic refectory it is possible to buy very tasty pies.

Near the monastery there is a museum of wooden architecture. It is the ethnographic complex "Kostroma Settlement" where houses and other constructions of residents of the Russian village of 18-19 centuries are collected. From different villages brought the whole houses here, having sorted them on a brevnyshka, and having constructed anew in original state already on the new place. In each house the situation, furniture and household items of that time is kept.
There is also a wooden church which was constructed in a distant 16th century. Some constructions are lifted over the Earth's surface and stand on piles. They were brought from the area which flooded during a flood and therefore buildings had such design. It is possible to come for a long time here. Here it is possible and to wander independently on the large beautiful territory and to listen to a tour, and on the boat to drive, and just to take a walk. Also in the museum master classes in national crafts are held.

All of us know that our Father Frost's residence is in Velikiy Ustyug. And here his granddaughter Snegurochka has the residence in Kostroma, the museum "Snow Maiden's Tower" is located here. It is a high timbered tower in the Russian traditions where Snegurochka and her friends all the year round receive guests. Here it is possible to get acquainted with Snegurochka's history, to learn about New Year's traditions.


It will be interesting to visit this fantastic place to both children, and adults. The tour on halls of the snegurochkiny palace will be conducted not by ordinary guides, but fairy tale characters – a cat Bayun and the Brownie. What interesting can be seen in a tower? At the very beginning of the excursion you will see a doll performance – the small fairy tale which will please small children. Then you will walk on rooms of a tower where there are Father Frost's chambers, an exhibition of pagan characters, a parade of New Year trees and other interesting expositions.

One of the most unusual places in a tower of the Snow Maiden is an ice room. This small room in which ice sculptures are exposed and all furniture it is made of ice.

And even in the hottest day you will appear in the frosty and cold atmosphere. Long here you will not stay. After the small story the adult suggest an exclusive - to drink berry fruit liqueur from ice liqueur glasses, you precisely in one cafe will not see it.
