Birthday in Rotorua. The city with a smell … geysers and fumarol. And again Taupo.

During the trips and travel only there is also time for articles and publications. I will have soon a period when has no time for therefore I write so far is written. Can whom I will lighten the mood.

Rotorua

There lives the husband's mother. I love her as native. This year on the 83rd year of life she, at last, retired. Before worked in State Department on work with unsuccessful children. About Sandra it is necessary to write the separate book. And here only strokes of our trip to the city where she lives many years.


In 8 years of life in New Zealand I got used to a smell of this city. I remember the first impression of it in my first trip in December, 2014, for local Christmas. We with the husband then still were in a rose and candy stage. So, we drive up to Rotorua, and suddenly in salon a smell characteristic. Well you know when to tell the first impulse to the fellow traveler: "Not I pernut it". I watch on then still the groom, and he has zero reaction. And the smell amplifies. As though who shit pants in salon. Forgive me for my French. But words "broke wind" and "obkakatsya" are not suitable for this smell. Taking into account that there was a hot summer (I will remind that December in New Zealand - the first hot summer month), began to smell especially tasty. I feel like the silly woman the silly woman. Stench is such that guilty business the thought flashed, but whether I fell in love with the farter who still constrained himself (forgive, darling).

I open a window to air, and in a face such stench of rotten eggs pakhnut that I nearly choked. But from heart went away. My man is not involved in this smell. I ask it accurately:

- It is natural hydrogen sulfide.

As about Rotorua I then knew nothing, the city was full of surprises. The hydrogen sulfide smell in some places, especially in the summer, seems we do not take out. But local got used to it. And very much everything depends on weather and the residence. Just we passed those places where then there was an increased underground activity. This resort town is near an active volcano and here many geysers and fumarol. The city as though smokes from these sources. It is a lot of places with natural sources and pools equipped for treatment and warming up of joints. You sit down on a side, legs in water, and you sit you heat legs.

Rough underground activity in these regions since ancient times activated pagan religion of local population of Maori. Therefore there are a lot of local ceremonial attractions.





Near some houses there are boiling sources where it is possible to approach and cook just like that eggs in the boiling water. Unique city.



I for these years already got used to a smell of Rotorua. It does not seem to me such opposite any more.


And mother lives in such area where this smell is absent at all. On the bank of the lake Rotorua of the same name. Now I descend I will make for you a photo.
