Astragal

Astragal – a perennial grassy plant from family bean. A root at an astragal many-domed, fleshy, rod. Several straight lines or the rising stalks reach height the 30-45th.

Neparnoperisty, difficult leaves consist of 12-14 couples prodolgovato - elliptic leaflets. Yellow or light yellow flowers of papilionaceous type are collected in inflorescences – dense heads on 10-20 pieces. Blossoms astragat in May – June.

Fruits are the hairy, firm, leathery, not revealing, ovoid or oval beans 10-12 mm long with a nose and triangular seeds of dark green or flavovirent color ripen in July. After fruits ripen, an elevated part of a plant dies off, and grows again in the early spring.

Grows astragat in steppe areas, on edges, glades, a midland of Russia and in the south. In the medicinal and cosmetic purposes use a grass of an astragal which is cut off during blossoming at height the 5-10th over the surface of the soil and dry in the fresh air in a shadow.

The grass of an astragal contains: vitamins - With, In, saponina, polysaccharides, alkaloids, triterpenovy saponina, sterols, flavonoids, starch, tannins, coumarins, apple, lemon organic acids, essential oil, minerals – selenium, copper iron, aluminum, magnesium, strontium, molybdenum, vanadium, calcium, barium, silicon, phosphorus and manganese.

Medicines of an astragal have styptic, hypotensive, calming, vasodilating, diuretic properties, improve blood circulation in kidneys, reduce puffiness.

Infusions from a grass of an astragal apply at a hypertension, chronic heart failure, tachycardia, stenocardia, hypostases, diabetes, atherosclerosis; diseases of digestive tract, liver, at rheumatism, a scrofula, oncology, diseases of the haematogenic system.

- Infusion
To fill in 1 tablespoon of the crushed grass with 1 glass of boiled water, to draw half an hour, to filter to accept ¼ glasses 3-4 times a day.

- Tincture from roots
40 gr. the crushed roots of an astragal to fill in 500 ml. vodka. To cork, insist 10 days in the dark place, periodically stirring up. To filter, accept. 20-30 drops 3 times a day before food within 2 months.

In China medicines of an astragal are used in gerontology as they have ability to rejuvenate an organism.

Infusion rinse an oral cavity at gingivita, stomatitises and periodontosis.

Astragal is not recommended to accept at hypotonia and pregnancy.

In the cosmetic purposes broths and infusions of an astragal wash for smoothing of wrinkles, for giving to elasticity skin.

- Compress
To fill in 1 tablespoon of a grass with 1 glass, to cover and insist 2 hours. To filter, impregnate a gauze and to put on a face for 20 minutes, moistening it each 5 minutes.

- The mask rejuvenating
To mix 1 tablespoon of infusion from 2 articles boats of cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon of honey, to mix, apply to skin for 19-15 minutes. To wash away water of room temperature.

- The mask moistening
To mix 1 tablespoon of infusion with 1 tablespoon of cucumber juice and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. To impregnate with structure the gauze put in several layers and to put on a face for 15 minutes. To wash water of room temperature.

- Against cellulitis
To mix infusion of an astragal with honey in a proportion 1:1, to apply on problem places and to wind with cellophane, to wash away in 30-30 minutes.

- The bathtub softening skin and giving it elasticity
To fill in 3-4 tablespoons of the crushed dry raw materials in a thermos with 1 liter of boiled water, to insist 2 hours, to filter, pour out in a bathtub. Water temperature should not exceed 37 degrees.
