In the beginning legend

The myth about Prometheus who presented to people fire is known to all, having taken away it from gods of the Olympus. Pandora is a heroine of this story too.

Inhabitants of heaven decided to revenge the impudent fellow Prometheus and created the woman whom each of gods blessed with the special gift – she was able to do everything and even more. After inhabitants of heaven decided to present this creation which was named Pandora (in translation – everything presented), to Prometheus, but he rejected a gift. Then Pandora fascinated the brother Prometheus, Epimetey, and he married the girl.

Zeus decided that Prometheus has to be anyway punished, but as he was too vigilant, the master of lightnings decided to go in the roundabout way – through his younger brother. He sent to Epimetey the closed box into which all defects, the evil and diseases were put. The vessel was very strictly forbidden to be opened.




As well as most of women Pandora was curious. She stole a box from the husband and opened it. All troubles crashed out and fell upon the world. Pandora closed a box, but was already too late. When Epimetya understood what occurred, he took away an unfortunate casket from the wife, but suddenly heard a thin and weak voice from within. Struggling with itself and thinking what worse will not be any more, Prometheus's brother opened a box again. And from it the weak, but bright hope took off. And it was led – whatever sufferings fell to human lot, near them there will always be a hope, and only people solve to what of voices to listen.


Different people treat a story about Pandora in own way: some saw in a legend a hint on female short-sighted and unreliable nature, others – caution about consequences of daredevil acts, the third say that the moral of history that the hope is always how there were circumstances. What to draw a conclusion – only ourselves solve, determining by it own life.
