In 1830 when at the king Louis Philipp the hangnail on a finger inflamed, it was ordered to one doctor to remove a hangnail from a royal finger. Then the resourceful doctor, having coped with this small operation, developed set for manicuring.
Then the orange stick borrowed in dental surgery tools without which any manicure office still does not do was entered into this set. The niece of this doctor, adopted skills at the uncle and made manicure popular not only in court circles. And already by the beginning of the XX century manicuring becomes the important commercial industry, and "sets for nails" which entered powder, a suede file, hand ointment and an orange stick were on sale in each universal little shop. Then also women and men equally used these sets.

Modern manicure "was born" in 1917. Doctor Koronyu at that time the first thought up the liquid allowing to delete a cuticle, and the first manicure salon opened in 1878.
The manicure salon of Mrs. Kobbs (on an engraving below) which opened in New York became the first not only in the city, but also in the country. Since then art of care of nails took place a huge way: from luxury to availability practically to everyone and from laborious manual work before use of digital technologies.
The first manicure salon which was opened by the businesswoman Mrs. Kobbs in 1878 was located on Vest-23 the Street, Manhattan. For those years manicure was expensive pleasure, destiny of ladies from the high society, wives and daughters of wealthy people.

1932 became the real break in the history of manicure. Charles Leshman in 1932 created the first nail varnish. Varnish was very saturated, bright red color.

Acrylic nail extension appeared in the 1960th year. According to one of the version, the American stomatologist was his inventor, thought up such building after a finger injury which result was a broken nail and he strongly complicated work to the doctor. According to other version, this stomatologist wanted to disaccustom to a foolish habit to gnaw nails the spouse. Anyway, nail extension gained world popularity.
