September 3 - Bra birthday

The bra is an element of a women's underwear which supports a breast and improves its appearance.
Birthday of a bra is considered on September 3, 1914. This day the invention of this product was for the first time patented, though up to this point there were various options of bras.

Short history of a bra
Nobody knows the exact time of emergence of this product, in the Ancient world the bandages for a female breast allowing to support her were used. Greece made them of soft skin, in Egypt – of linen fabric.

In the Middle Ages the female breast was bandaged that it was flat as its beauty could cause in men of feeling of desire.

Then the era of corsets began: which spoiled a female body, squeezed a breast that became frequent the reason of various diseases because of the small volume of lungs.

It is considered to be that the brassiere was created by the owner of corset masterful Erminie Kadol who in the pavilion of the World Fair of 1889 in Paris submitted to the judgement of public a product for support of a breast. Trying to help the client whom the corset prevented to play tennis, madam Kadol cut off its lower part, and sewed straps to top!

10 years later the German seamstress Christina Hardt In Dresden the model "jerseys for women on lyamochka with the condensed cups on a breast" was created. The word "bra" - the German origin is also translated as "the holder of a breast" ("Bustenhalter").

The most popular version of origin of a bra is American according to which the wealthy lady Mary Phelps Jacobs decided to replace a corset which was visible in the cut of her smart dress located on a back on a product under the name "brassiere without back". It made this brassiere by means of the maid of two handkerchiefs and ribbons. This product was also patented on September 3, 1914:

However, the seamstress Ida Rosenthal-Kaganovich, the emigrant from Russia to the USA was closest to creation of a bra of a modern look. She developed forms of cups of a bra according to the structure of a breast to individual measures. She created legendary Meidenform which controls 40% of the market of underwear of the USA today and sells the products to 70 countries of the world.

From 1930th years of the woman did not think any more as it is possible to live without bra. And what only versions of the solution of this product, small by the sizes, were not created!
There were inflatable models allowing to increase a breast to the dream size:

There were bras – bullets which acted as the sharp ends: it, for some reason, did not confuse women, and such appearance struck men in the heart! In a word – a bullet!

Smart balkoneta as with Anjelica from the film epic created based on novels Anne and Serge Golon were incredibly popular in the USSR. They and were called: Anjelica!

And advertizing of push-ap bras had to be removed from streets because of car accidents:
