Bad and good ingredients of toothpaste
Different experts differently estimate this question. But "golden mean" can be found. I think that this six is quite doubtful, and it is necessary to pay attention to it and to draw own conclusion. I give the list and at the same time I check, how about vrednost as a part of "Forest balm": 1. Triklozan. Than it is bad: powerful antibacterial and antifungal chemical, but at frequent and uncontrolled application (especially inside) can cause endocrine violations, diseases of a thyroid gland and even risks of cancer. For this reason doctors prefer to limit use of antibacterial soap with triklozany. Advise or apply courses, or only during seasonal infections or trips to the distant countries.
In Forest Balm paste there is no triklozan, unlike some popular pastes.
2. Sodium laurylsulphate. SLS is necessary to thicken texture of paste, to improve foaming and to remove a dental plaque. Some have an allergic reaction to sulfates, the skin is irritated. It this ingredient is bad. Ecologists have still unpleasant reviews of sulfates. But we so much wash away in drains that so far cares that sulfates are toxic for fishes and animals, are superdisorders, in my opinion. However, some opponents of sulfates cite as an example results of a certain research which say that sulfates in paste lead to cancer of gums, ulcers and diseases of teeth. I found nothing concrete. Perhaps there is also some research. Generally, sulfates – still, some of the most disputable ingredients in a kosmeika.
In "Forest Balm Basic Care" paste is sodium laurylsulphate.
3. Aspartame, saccharin. These are artificial sweeteners. They can often be seen in lists of ingredients of toothpaste. It is considered that they need to be avoided as they are undesirable to health.
In paste there is Sodium Sacharin, unfortunately.
4. Propylene glycol.
This ingredient is called sometimes very toxic and cancerogenic. Researches show its harm in the long term. Therefore if you want to have a healthy oral cavity, then attentively read labels, especially regarding propylene glycol. However, this ingredient did not receive a full research yet, but this form of mineral oil (in fact, it is alcohol) is always brought in risk group.
In our paste there is no propylene glycol!
5. Glycerin.
In itself, it is harmless and, of course, is not toxic and is not cancerogenic. But the problem is that glycerin leaves a deposit which is difficult for removing on the surface of teeth. That plenochka which on skin "seals" moisture, - but remaining on teeth, it it is so strong keeps that is removed only after 30 (!) rinsings. Than this film is bad? It leads to remineralization. Calcium and phosphorus (minerals necessary to teeth) are present at our saliva, and the glyceric film interferes with that teeth were constantly washed by saliva. Remineralization, in turn, accelerates development of caries and other dental problems.
In Forest Balm paste there is a glycerin, and it is not really good news. I in general was happy with this paste, but in the theory it is harder and harder, than in practice, some ingredients not really good.
6. Sorbitol.
This element sometimes contains in chewing gum. It is sugar alcohol which sweetens a product. But, tell why for teeth sugar if toothpaste is just designed to clean teeth from this component, harmful to enamel? Then, I found also one research which proved that it sorbitol can cause a chronic diarrhea. Sorbitol or sorbitolovy alcohol – strong laxative. And, it should be noted again that such popular component as sorbitol, is a little studied. Just in case, it can be carried to doubtful. Though it is used in pastes very often, nearly always. Here why it, tell? It is not pleasant to me. The feeling of sweet taste is optional to paste.
In Forest Balm paste sorbitol is available, and almost on the first place.
And now about good. The abundance of useful extracts in paste somehow calms and even compensates what was doubtful. There are very good ingredients: camomile extract, sea-buckthorn oil, broth of five herbs, a vegetable complex from poliprenola. Green!
I very much liked texture. It is the paste which is not simply tinted in mint color, it is really unusual green texture of paste.Color is saturated, even not pastel, and really a shade is fresher than some greens.
The smell is powerful, good. Both coniferous notes, and mint are felt. But after paste in a mouth some sweet taste is felt. Probably, sorbitol and saccharin do the part. It confuses.
Paste really well looks after gums – they cease to ache, hurt, even to bleed. But, in my opinion, not really effectively looks after tooth enamel. Because there is a sugar, glycerin, on teeth any cardinal changes are not felt.
