The exciting smell of India – Shalimar

Last 20th century was innovative – new concepts of clothes are created, decorative cosmetics becomes fashionable and, of course, creative revolution did not avoid also perfumery. In the 20th century the cult aromas which became a style icon, a symbol of femininity and refinement were created. Shalimar (days from the first spirits with typically east notes) created by the perfumer Jacques Guerlain in 1925 became one of such perfume.

Jacques Guerlain was inspired by a real story of love of the Indian emperor. Shah Zhakhan, the great emperor of India, gave to the favourite Mumtaz Makhal boundless love. He promised it to build the wonderful palace and to surround it with a pink garden — after she gives birth to the son. Unfortunately, she died while giving birth. The grief of the governor was big, and nobody could console him. And everything what he dreamed of — to keep the promise. The palace had to be wonderful as it his darling, is huge as his grief, velichestven as its feelings to it. The architect offered it the project behind the project, but all this was not that, not about that. And then he ordered: kill the wife at this person! Let he will test what I tested. Then he will create what I promised. And left. In the world there was a wonderful palace — Taj Mahal around which the shah laid out the wonderful gardens which received the name Shalimar ("Love gardens"). Guerlain tried to recreate aromas of east garden in the spirits. At them there are citrus notes, magnificent flowers and the sweet, stupefying east smells of an incense and vanilla (a jasmine from Grass, the rose, a lemon, a bergamot, beans is thin, odorous pitch opoponaks, womanly and voluptuous vanilla, an iris).

As well as all products of Guerlain, Shalimar are performing perfumery art. In it ingredients of the highest quality were used. It is known that, for example, mix from vanillin of different extents of cleaning was applied to creation of unique vanilla bitterness. But not only contents, but also a bottle for precious liquid – an original masterpiece - a graceful Baccara crystal vessel. Shalimar bottle of perfume - one of the most known in the history of perfumery, along with a bottle of Chanel No. 5. But, unlike spirits of Chanel, the bottle of Shalimar was not used for other spirits of the house of Guerlain.

After many years magnificent spirits of Shalimar still tower over crowd of a perfumery something ephemeral and take strong positions in the market and in the hearts of fans. Long time of Shalimar was left without changes, but in 2006 Guerlain released easier, fresh interpretation of classical aroma of Shalimar - Shalimar Light. Shalimar Light is a continuation of a true story of love of the Indian shah to the concubine - composition from notes of a bergamot, an iris, an opopanaks and vanilla is complemented with fresh citrus notes. Temptation and the enveloping temptation for the sensual woman.

Shalimar is breath of the trembling sensuality, sharpness of spices and an eternal riddle.
