The Roger & Gallet line is founded in 1806 by Jean Maria Farina, Johann's descendant Farina, the inventor of cologne (Eau de Cologne). Jean Maria Farina opened shop in Paris and began to release own cologne which enjoyed such popularity that eventually Farina became the supplier of the yard of Napoleon. In 1962 Armand Roger and Charles Gallo redeemed production and began to expand it, having included in the line of care product for leather and soap. In 2008 the Roger & Gallet brand was acquired by the L'Oreal company.
