Lancôme was based by Armand Petitjean in 1935 as a cosmetic and perfumery brand. Petitjean worked with Francois Coty earlier. The perfume line of the brand began with five aromas: Tendre Nuit, Bocages, Conquete, Kypre and Tropiques. Later still popular Magie (1950), Tresor (1952), O de Lancôme (1969), Poeme (1995) and Miracle (2000) were released. The brand was acquired by the L'Oreal company in 1964.
